      Son of Hezekiah and Margaret. James Tong evidently went east with some of his brothers or sisters and was in a New York deaf and dumb asylum for seven years. He had been ill since age 7. He came to California and lived with his folks in Clarksville until he was admitted to the Stockton State Hospital on 1 May 1869. He died there 9 Nov 1875 pf Typhoid Pneumonia. He is said to have been radical in hsi beliefs. He never married. 28 years of age on admittance to Hospital.
