    • Charles Voorhees Crawford, fifth son of William Henry and Leah (Conover) Crawford, was born November 17, 1844, at the old homestead at Crawford's Corner, Holmdel township, Monmouth county, New Jersey, and died at Keyport, New Jersey, April 16, 1908, aged sixty-four years, the last male survivor of his family.

      After graduation from Glenwood Institute, Matawan, New Jersey, he entered the hardware business in New York City, so continuing for a number of years, very successfully. After he had amassed a competency he retired from business, returned to the old homestead and then for several years was a director and secretary of the Keyport Banking Company.

      He never married, was very fond of the old homestead and its surroundings, and was one of the most upright of men, held in high esteem by all who knew him. Several months prior to his death he suffered a paralytic stroke which was the primary cause of his death. He was buried in Holmdel Cemetery, April 18, 1908.
