  • Notes
    • TR Hamilton -

Basil Hamilton (father of TR Hamilton) graduated from Gilman High School in 1936. He went to work on
the Illinois Central Railroad as a break man on the trains. When the World
War II started, He went to join the Army but they said that he was in a
career that was important to the nation.

The Illinois Central Railroad needed men at Jackson Mississippi to work in
the yard. So Basil went to work there. At Jackson yards there was a
restaurant in the yards. He met my mother, she worked as a weitress. My
mother's name was Mary Pauline Westbrook at that time. She was the daughter
of Charle and Mary ( Montgomery) Westbrook. Basil and Mary Pauline was
married on August 2,1941 Meadville, Mississippi.

They moved to Chicago where dad were worked on the trains. Basil Jr. was
born in Chicago. After his birth the family moved to Gilman. The young
      couple had three more children.
